CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES
 
Communications Co-ordinator (circa £25,000)
 
An exciting opportunity exists for a Communications Co-ordinator to support both internal and external communications activities for SELEX GALILEO business based at our Basildon and Southampton sites., in line with current Company strategy.  The successful candidate will report to the Head of Internal Communications and focus on using a range of communications tactics to deliver professional communications, in line with Company strategy, via differenct media forms across the business.
 
Key responsibilities:
 
  • Deliver day to day management of Basildon and Southampton communications activities ranging from VIP visits, messages, internal notices, Company Intranet, noticeboards
  • manage the customer contact management database (TED), including updates and supporting exhibitions and events with invitation lists and diary management
  • support our Communications Managers across the business in communications activities
  • support, plan and execute central External Relations activities, such as employee briefings, and deploy Company communications activities at site level
  • co-ordinate and draft input for briefings, notices, Visione magazine, Team Brief etc
  • co-ordinate site sponsorships, donations and charitable gifts.
 
Key abilities required:
 
Candidates should ideally have a degree or further education qualification in communications and experience in a similar role.
Candidates will be expected to have a breadth of knowledge of communications in a major business environment, good command of the written and spoken word, including ability to communicate at all levels, and have a high level of computer literacy.
Applicants should be well presented, self-motivated and innovative with a desire for continuous self-improvement. The ability to work unsupervised, within a team or independently is vital along with the ability to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels.

Principal Supportability Engineer(circa 35,000)
 
A challenging opportunity has arisen for a Principal Supportability Engineer  within the Engineering Function at the Basildon Site of SELEX GALILEO, responsibilities to include the ability to manage and implement supportability requirements on a project, or projects, and direct other team members on tasks, providing experience, knowledge and expertise.


 
Key responsibilities:
 
  • As a key member of an IPT, to work in an engineering team and be responsible for supportability requirements and the quality of outputs.
  • Take responsibility for contributing to IPT cost, schedule and risk management for supportability programme aspects.
  • Speak on behalf of the Company with customers and or suppliers for project supportability requirements
 
 
Key abilities required:
 
As a Principal Supportability Engineer the successful candidate will be required to manage and implement supportability requirements on a number of projects. This will include being capable of directing other team members on tasks, providing knowledge and expertise. The candidate will also be required to:

Act as a key member of an IPT, to work in an engineering team and be responsible for supportability requirements and the quality of outputs.

Take responsibility for contributing to IPT cost, schedule and risk management for supportability programme aspects.

Speak on behalf of the Company with customers and or suppliers for project supportability requirements.

Provide help and guidance to develop other members of the team.

Seek and share good practice along with knowledge to contribute to SELEX GALILIO Supportability Engineering community.

Candidates should ideally have a Degree/HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline and/or proven track record within the field of Supportability Engineering.

Candidates will be expected to have a good knowledge of Reliability and Maintainability, FMEA/FMECA, and Testability analysis tasks using one or more industry standard tools. The role requires a good standard of spoken / written English and technical report writing coupled with a high level of computer literacy, including the use of spreadsheets and databases. In order to address the new business element of the role the successful candidate will also be expected to be proficient at estimating effort for ILS tasks, experienced in responding to Customer 'Invitation to Tender' requests and experienced in developing 'Whole Life Support' Customer solutions.

Additionally a good understanding of statistical analysis, ability to use spares modelling and spares optimisation tools, ability to conduct Logistic Support Analysis and manage an LSAR is desirable. An ability to conduct FTA, RCM and Reliability / Maintainability demonstration analysis and utilise the appropriate standards / tools would also be beneficial.

The successful applicant must proven experience in defence industry engineering, be familiar with project and systems engineering processes and have a good understanding of overall supportability engineering ILS disciplines. The successful candidate will also be familiar with the main Supportability Engineering task defence standards and have the ability to conduct task planning / scheduling, task cost management and risk identification / mitigation.

The ability to work unsupervised, within a team or independently is vital along with the ability to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels. Additionally, commercial and cultural awareness when dealing with customers / suppliers is essential.
