GraduateGraduate Development Framework (GDF) Welcome to the Graduate Development Framework (GDF) website. The GDF aims to give you a flavour of the benefits and unique opportunities you can expect by joining SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems UK as a graduate. Part of the Finmeccanica group of companies, SELEX GALILEO employs 7,200 personnel and has operations in the UK, Italy and the United States. The two year scheme gives graduates the best possible start to their career, excellent prospects and great development opportunities under the wider Finmeccanica Group, which employs over 58000 people world-wide. What is the GDF? The Graduate Development Frameworks (GDF) places an emphasis on the importance of providing continuous training and opportunities for career development, in addition to many attractive benefits. SELEX GALILEO are proud to be accredited by the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Institute of Physics. The Company offers business and engineering graduates financial support for professional training, leading to accreditation and membership of said professional institutions. The benefits section of the GDF will talk you through some of the advantages in comparison to offers from other companies. This comes as a result of being part of the Finmeccanica Group, notably the chance of international opportunities for graduates. What happens when I join? The GDF gets off to a flying start with an exciting induction spending a week in Wales on an outward-bound activity course for all new graduates. After a series of challenging outdoor activities, graduates return to demanding roles within the business, working on real projects with real responsibility. Some graduates, particularly those working in business roles, will have the opportunity to undertake placements at different sites and in different functions and so gain maximum exposure and experience over the 2 years. All graduates are encouraged to have a career development plan that is monitored by you the graduate, your Line Manager, HR and your Mentors - so there is ongoing support to champion your career progression at all times. As well as a buddy scheme, site visit and an all expenses paid night out to meet other graduates before you start, SELEX S&AS UK runs a Mentoring scheme to give you additional support and objective career advice from senior leaders. In addition to the schedule of training activities, there are ongoing opportunities for stretch assignments, projects and activities throughout the two years. These include working with pupils from local schools under the Education Liaison strategy and going to Universities across the UK to attend career fairs and employer presentations on behalf of the Company. These experiences all add to the first class, on-the-job training that makes the GDF interesting, diverse and challenging. How do we form part of the wider Finmeccanica Group? Graduates are made to feel part of the Finmeccanica Group through the Finmeccanica Learning and Induction Programme (FLIP) which familiarises graduates joining all Group companies across the world with the business and mechanisms underpinning the corporate culture. By working through virtual teams, new recruits are given the chance to go overseas on business and meet other graduates from across the globe as part of the GDF. .pdf
