Attitude Control Sensors

S3 - Smart Sun Sensor 
The S3 (Smart Sun Sensor) is a 2-axes solar sensor which does not use optics to sense the Sun?s angle. As a result, S3 has a large dynamic range providing medium/ high accuracy and wide Field of View, thus combining the functions traditionally performed by separate fine and coarse Sun sensors. The compact single box concept, provides high reliability, radiation tolerance and low mass.
IRES - Infrared Earth Sensor 
IRES (InfraRed Earth Sensor) is a 2-axes Earth horizon sensor for attitude control of 3-axes stabilised GEO spacecraft. The operating principle is based on electromechanical modulation of the radiation from the Earth's horizon. IRES consists of an optical head and processes electronics in a single housing. Full performance Pitch and Roll are computed inside the sensor by means of a dedicated ASIC.
A-STR 
A-STR is a state-of-the-art medium Field Of View star tracker integrated in a single assembly with a radiation hardened design. It is capable of ensuring robust and accurate 3-axes attitude determination with low levels of mass and power consumption. A-STR is highly reliable in autonomous attitude determination systems.
AA-STR 
The Active Pixel Sensor based Autonomous Star Tracker (AA-STR) is a medium Field Of View star tracker, based on a radiation hardened design, conceived as a single case sensor. AA-STR ensures robust and accurate 3-axes attitude determination in a highly compact and lightweight star tracker, providing accuracy comparable to that achieved with CCD star trackers.
SIREUS - Gyro Sensor 
SiREUS (European Silicon Rate Sensor) is a Coarse Rate Sensor forming a key part of Attitude and Orbital Control Systems. It is robust and radiation hardened to provide a 3-axes MEMS based gyro solution for use in Geostationary satellites as well as applications in LEO Earth Observation, Scientific and Exploratory space missions. The single box unit contains all control, processing, power and interface requirements.
