NewsOctober, 02 2008 SELEX Galileo and Alenia Aeronautica for the Full Mission Simulator at Gioia del Colle air base SELEX Galileo, in cooperation with Alenia Aeronautica, (both Finmeccanica companies) has completed - at 36° Wing of Gioia del Colle air base, South Italy, - a restructure of the buildings that will host the Full Mission Simulator of the Eurofighter Typhoon, as part of the contract which covers integrated logistic support of the flight simulator for the Typhoon. The aircraft has recently entered into service at the Gioia del Colle air base. Stellar team's winning SATURN (Sensing & Autonomous Tactical Urban Reconnaissance Network) solution was awarded the highest points of any participants by judging panel after successfully identifying the majority of the threats planted at the MoD's Urban warfare training facility at Copehill Down on Salisbury Plain. July, 31 2008 SELEX Galileo receives subcontract from CAE for M-346 initial training capability Eurofighter simulation activities on schedule with a 32M Euro contract for ASTA SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, is pleased to announce the signing of a subcontract with CAE for work on the initial training capability for Alenia Aermacchi's M-346 new generation advanced lead-in fighter trainer. CAE was selected earlier this year by Alenia Aermacchi (AAEM) as preferred full-mission simulator supplier for the M-346 aircraft. As part of the M-346 program, AAEM awarded CAE a contract for the design, development and validation of the Initial Training Capability, which includes the prototype M-346 flight training device. SELEX Galileo will contribute to the M-346 training programme through simulator systems development and delivery. SELEX Galileo will have responsibility for the Instructor Operating Station (IOS) and provide parts of the avionics simulation and the cockpit. July, 16 2008 SELEX Galileo provides its Aircraft Gateway Processor (AGP) for U.S. Army AH-64D Apache Longbow Helicopters SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, has received a production contract from Boeing Integrated Defense Systems for its Aircraft Gateway Processor (AGP). The system will be installed on all extended Block II Apache Longbow helicopters operated by the U.S. Army and International customers from 2009. This follows 18 months of investment and co-operation by the companies to jointly develop new and improved Aircraft Survivability Equipment for the AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter. July, 16 2008 SELEX Galileo to supply AgustaWestland EOST 46 turrets SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, will supply AgustaWestland 10 EOST46 systems to be integrated into the AW101 and SuperLynx300 helicopters for an international customer. Equipped helicopters will be delivered to the customer during the next 24/36 months. This new order sums up to the three systems recently sold to AgustaWestland for the AW109LUH. Passive Hydrogen Maser (PHM) is the most stable operational atomic clock for
space use ever built. The Maser was developed by SELEX GALILEO of Finmeccanica,
one of the biggest players in the European Defence Electronics sector. Galileo - the most sophisticated satellite navigation system - will have on-board atomic clocks made in Italy. With its exceptional stability, SELEX GALILEO's Maser will guarantee the Galileo System with high levels of precision, without synchronisation from ground control for over 8 hours. April, 23 2008 U.S. COAST GUARD awards SELEX GALILEO contract extension for full production and support of the SEASPRAY 7500e aesa radar for their hc-130h fleet. The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has selected the SELEX GALILEO SEASPRAY 7500E AESA surveillance radar system for its HC-130H radar upgrade program. This follow on contract for the production element has been awarded after successful demonstration of this revolutionary technology. The contract valued at US$32 million for this phase, is scheduled to run over the next four years. A total of 15 HC-130H aircraft will be upgraded to a new level of capability. The SEASPRAY 7500E electronically scanned array (ESCAN) radar, which operates using a dedicated multi station display suite and surveillance/SAR, will be the primary sensor on the USCG's front line long range maritime surveillance aircraft. March, 17 2008 Further successes with Jules Verne ATV for SELEX GALILEO space activities SELEX GALILEO, part of Finmeccanica, participates to the European Space Agency (ESA) mission Jules Verne ATV launched on the 9th of March from the Kourou spaceport, in French Guiana. The Automatic Transfer Vehicle (ATV) Jules Verne, a new series of spaceships, was launched without a space crew and will reach the International Space Station (ISS) at the beginning of April. The ATV module will remain in orbit for a maximum 6 months and, once completed its tasks, will head back to Earth and disintegrate in the atmosphere. |
