Because we know that cutting-edge technology flows from the innovation and pioneering spirit of a highly competent workforce, we have invested heavily in our Technical and Business Apprentice schemes. Each combines hands-on training with day release for studying. This means you will be building a successful career working alongside true professionals, while gaining valuable qualifications for the future. You will also be involved in real projects, gaining an insight into how a highly successful company operates.
 
Assessment dates for apprenticeships are planned for April and interviews in May - we therefore recommend early application.
 
As part of Finmeccanica UK Ltd, we currently offer apprenticeship programmes to over 90 learners that have been rated "Outstanding" by OFSTED*. The OFSTED verdict reflects the high level of learning and career development offered to learners undertaking apprenticeship programmes. *(Ref Ofsted report 333554 - Overall grade 1 = Outstanding).

Technical Apprenticeship - 4 years (Basildon, Luton, Edinburgh)

"The Technical Apprenticeship Scheme, accredited by the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) provides a fantastic overview of the engineering environment through placements in a variety of departments. These will see you designing and building systems, supporting engineering functions and carrying out comprehensive testing and reporting. Not all placements are practical and hands-on; research for example, involves report writing and data analysis to support and develop engineering activities. This wealth of experience, accompanied by the fully sponsored academic qualifications achieved during the Apprenticeship programme, will put you in an excellent position to move into a permanent role and follow your chosen career path."

Business Apprenticeship - 2 years (Basildon, Luton, Edinburgh)

The Business Apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity to gain on the job training and experience within a leading business environment as well as gaining valuable qualifications. You will study on day release at university an HNC or Foundation Degree in Business Management., as well as NVQ level 3 in Business and Administration and Key Skills Communication and Application of Number at level3 delivered in-house, this making up the full Advanced Apprenticeship.
During the 2 years you will gain experience of 6 x 4 month placements which may include, Procurement, Commercial, Project Planning, Finance, HR, Legal, Marketing and Operations. This is a unique opportunity to have a "taster" and gain experience in many disciplines so that you have a rounded view of the whole business. The qualifications and experience gained during the Apprenticeship stands you in great stead for starting out on your chosen career path.

Software Apprenticeship - 4 years (Basildon, Luton)

"The Software Apprenticeship Scheme, provides a fantastic overview of the Engineering environment through placements in a wide variety of Departments. These will see you building a capability to design , develop and integrate complex, real-time, embedded software applications.Our capability in state-of-the-art modelling and auto-code generation techniques is complemented by our extensive knowledge of legacy tools, languages and processors. Not all placements are practical and hands-on; some will require research , report writing and data analysis to support and develop engineering activities. This wealth of experience, accompanied by the fully sponsored academic qualifications achieved during the Apprenticeship programme, will put you in an excellent position to move into a permanent role and follow your chosen career path."

Craft Apprenticeship - 3 years (Basildon, Edinburgh)


"The Craft Apprenticeship Scheme provides a fantastic opportunity withn the Machined Components Centre (MCC). Placements will be based in MCC with awareness of other areas of the business. Craft Apprentices will work towards providing state of the art precision machining, through a structured development plan moving around the varouis Machines and Departments within the centre. All your placements will be hands-on and the qualifications you work towards will reflect this. You will draw a wide variety of skills and profiency whilst working together with other business areas to improve customer turnaround time and quality. The Apprenticeship programme, will put you in an excellent position to move into a permanent role and follow your chosen career path."

Technical Apprenticeship - Industrial Engineering - 4 years (Basildon)

"The Industrial Engineering Technical Apprenticeship Scheme, accredited by the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) provides a fantastic overview of the Production Engineering environment through placements in Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Departments. These will see you designing and building test systems, supporting engineering and maufacturing functions and carrying out comprehensive testing and reporting. Not all placements are practical and hands-on; some will require research , report writing and data analysis to support and develop engineering activities. This wealth of experience, accompanied by the fully sponsored academic qualifications achieved during the Apprenticeship programme, will put you in an excellent position to move into a permanent role and follow your chosen career path."

Technical Apprenticeship - Manufacturing and Support Operations - 3 years (Basildon)

"The Manufacturing and Support Operations Technical Apprenticeship Scheme, accredited by the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) provides a fantastic overview of the Engineering Manufacturing environment through placements in Assembly, Test , Logistics, Support and Inspection Departments. Supporting engineering functions and carrying out comprehensive testing and reporting. Not all placements are practical and hands-on; Some of your placements will be in a Manufacturing Support role, for example controlling materials for manufacturing operations. This wealth of experience, accompanied by the fully sponsored academic qualifications achieved during the Apprenticeship programme, will put you in an excellent position to move into a permanent role and follow your chosen career path."
